The Academic Center strives to give students the resources and tools necessary to successfully gain employment in the current job market.

Academic Center Expectations:

Durable Skills

The Academic Center at MATC will address four major clusters of durable skills. The four major clusters are then further divided into twenty-eight different categories to achieve well-rounded, informed, and prepared individuals ready to enter the workforce.

  1. Placement Employment – Job Applications, Resume Creation, Job Interviewing, Pre-Employment, Job Market Analysis, Bullying & Harassment including Title IX, and Workplace Health and Safety.
  2. Self-Management – Health and Wellness, Financial Literacy, Dealing with Personality Differences, Diet, Digital Citizenship, Setting Long-Term and Short-Term Goals, and Time Management.
  3. Workplace Communication – Customer Service, Solving Problems as a Team, Phone Etiquette and Skills, Business Letters and Documents, Greetings and Introductions, Communication and Listening Skills, and Public Speaking.
  4. Adulting – Community Service, Military Exposure, Car Maintenance, Home Maintenance, College/University Terminology, Adulting, and Driving.

MATC provides career interest inventories using the OK Career Guide and tries to expose students to the job market well beyond his/her surrounding environment.
